Back Up Your Birth Control

The Back Up Your Birth Control campaign seeks to raise awareness and encourage advance prescription of emergency contraception through grassroots organizing, provider and public education, and policy debates. The collective momentum of more than 150 national and local medical and public health organizations has helped spark action in the examination room, the pharmacy, the media, and the state house.

In 1997, the first multi-media public education campaign was launched in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Seattle. Television, radio, and print ads were created to inform audiences about EC and the National EC Hotline, 1-888-Not-2-Late. In collaboration with local coalitions, RHTP worked to maximize the impact of the campaigns in each target city.
